It's not every year that a council is able to open a high-quality leisure facility, but in 2020, amid an unprecedented health crisis and squeezed budgets, East Hampshire District Council with leisure partner Everyone Active opened two.

Alton Sports Centre opened in January 2020. The £20million state-of-the-art facility includes a six-lane pool, high-spec gym and climbing wall.

Work was underway on the Whitehill & Bordon Leisure Centre when coronavirus hit. The developers created a COVID-secure working environment, enabling the centre to open in November 2020.

These facilities play a vital role in keeping East Hampshire residents fit and healthy.
