Submitting Organisation: SSEN Transmission
Executive summary from entrant:
The transmission network in Argyll and Kintyre was constructed over 60 years ago to carry electricity to rural consumers. As more renewables developers choose Argyll and Kintyre, SSEN Transmission is driving connections to the grid, supporting Scotland and the UK’s drive towards Net Zero.Through extensive stakeholder engagement, and utilising multiple consenting regimes, design has been refined so that the infrastructure achieves the best balance in planning through highly complex, often competing constraints/opportunities. This has led to effective mitigation of landscape and visual impacts, co-ordinated workforce planning and housing strategy, positive outcomes for nature, and maximised socio-economic benefit for communities.
