Proving that a kitchen can become the beating heart of a whole community, Bonnington Café on Thessaly saw the revival and restoration of an under-loved, under-utilised Community Centre into an affordable neighbourhood café, garden and learning space serving delicious, inexpensive food for everyone to enjoy. 

Truly accessible and welcoming, the café encouraged and enabled residents to spend time outside the home with friends, family and neighbours.

This community-centred, culturally-led approach to the development and use of spaces determined by local residents rather than dictated by wholesale regeneration agendas, ensured the creation of places truly loved and valued by local people.
