This is the last parcel of land to be developed on the Olympic Park, protected for industrial use but neighbouring landmark stadiums. It sets the ambition for Network Rail’s freight portfolio, delivering on an economic, social and environmental level. The existing rail freight operations - vital to London’s construction industry – will be intensified carrying up to 3.5 million tonnes of materials by rail, removing c.90,000 HGV movements each year, cutting pollution. The land has consent for 2 million square feet of development, including industrial space, a leisure district and public realm, creating a new neighbourhood and around 5,000 jobs.
