Brent Cross Town Electrical Sub-Station
CarneySweeney / Related Argent in partnership with Barnet Council
The completed Brent Cross Town Electrical Substation will eventually supply energy to one of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe, including around 6,700 homes plus 280,000 square metres of office space, retail and leisure facilities. Located close to a transport interchange, where it is expected to be seen by six million people every year, it has been designed to serve as a piece of permanent public artwork, clad in undulating panels and featuring designs by the London-based artist Lakwena. The judges described an “innovative” project “which will have significant positive impacts for the local community”.
