Executive summary from entrant:

The planning consent to change the use of the land at Burpham Court Farm has secured a new ~50-hectare Nature Reserve for Guildford’s local community while enhancing its biodiversity. It may be one of the first nature reserves to meet Suitable Alternative Natural Green Spaces (SANG) criteria whilst also evidencing additional measures which deliver Biodiversity Net Gain. The reserve will feature diverse habitats, accessible countryside, and educational resources. Innovative solutions addressed challenges to its location, including flood risk, odour, noise and soil quality constraints. This project exemplifies how collaboration with key partners can help to ensure long-term sustainability and foster community engagement.
