Ealing Council has taken a pioneering approach to boost the provision of affordable housing by setting up its own development company, Broadway Living, whose specialist consultants bring the skills needed to deliver homes of different types and tenures. Profits from private sales fund additional affordable homes.

Its first major regeneration project is Copley W7, which will provide 280 new homes in a range of tenures and refurbish a further 554 council-owned properties. Its success is such that Ealing Council is investing 390m in Broadway Living to build 1,500 homes over the next six years, primarily for social or affordable rent.
