Entrant's Summary: In November 2023, following almost six years work, members of Richmond Council’s Planning Committee overturned the officer recommendation and approved plans for the former Greggs Bakery site in Twickenham. This decisive move went against the policy position of the adopted and emerging Local Plan but was supported by local councillors, residents and the committee because it will clearly rejuvenate a derelict industrial site and make a significant contribution to the borough’s affordable housing pipeline. Cascade effectively identified, demonstrated and galvanised community and political support including from the relevant ward councillors, and Munira Wilson, MP for Twickenham.
