Jaywick Sands Place Plan
HAT Projects
Entrant's Summary: The Jaywick Sands Place Plan is a regeneration strategy for the seafront community of Jaywick Sands, which is at high risk of tidal flooding as well as experiencing severe deprivation. Improving the flood defences and flood resilience is a precondition for successful regeneration, but this must not come at the expense of disconnecting the community from the beach. The Place Plan sets out a flood defence strategy that improves accessibility to the beach and integrates wider seafront facilities. This anchors the plan to transform housing quality and the wider environment, in a plan that has achieved wide community support.
