Kingston’s town centre framework is about encouraging sustainable and thoughtful change within a much-loved historic environment. The framework holistically interlinks placemaking, people, climate, and economics in one place and considers talks of them together. Too often we hear of climate and environment separate to people, places, skills, and the economy. They are a collective set of issues and opportunities which need to be drawn together. We therefore believe we deserve an award because our approach has been different and sets the bar for delivering projects on high streets which respond to people, place, and planet as one.
