Lewisham Small Sites SPD

Lewisham has a London Plan delivery target of 16,670 homes over ten years, including 3,790 on small sites. RCKa, as part of a team led by Ash Sakula, was commissioned to prepare a small sites design guide to encourage residential development on sites of less than 0.25 hectares. The team conducted a detailed analysis of the borough's character and studied planning application records to understand common reasons for refusal. The resulting guide was adopted in October 2021. The judges praised “a clear example of making positive steps to try and increase housing delivery” and “an approach that could be replicated by other local planning authorities”.
