Parliamentary Northern Estate: 1 Derby Gate and Norman Shaw North

Parliament’s Northern Estate masterplan demonstrates an exemplar, long-term conservation-led approach to the restoration of historic buildings at the heart of one of London’s most highly visited historic areas in Westminster. The project has safeguarded the buildings’ significance, bringing their fire, access and accommodation provision up to modern standards. The project has generated significant improvements to historic and environmental quality in Westminster, providing an important backdrop to landmarks such as Big Ben, the Cenotaph and the River Thames for visitors from across the UK and the world. The works support the nationally significant function of Parliament by modernising workspace for MPs.
