The creation of public art at Bellway’s Parsonage Place has had a transformative effect within the community of Otham in Kent. The beautiful artworks resulting from a two-year period of collaboration between artist Rob Turner and local people of all ages, including a community map, animal habitats, waymarking signs, paving features and sculptural seating, will not only enhance the physical and environmental quality of the place, but also communicate and celebrate what existing residents value most about where they live. By sharing the stories of local people within the development, the artworks welcome new arrivals, nurturing social cohesion and wellbeing.
