Perry Barr Regeneration catalysed by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
Birmingham City Council and Arup
The regeneration of Perry Barr was catalysed by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, which both utilised and unlocked the enhanced future use of publicly-owned land assets. The Council, supported by Arup, used the opportunity to be bold and ambitious in accelerating and increasing the scope of its vision for the future growth. The project is a successful exemplification of local authority-led large-scale legacy planning and regeneration. The range, comprehensive nature, and pace of the regeneration, the opportunities it creates for the next two decades, and the comprehensive partner buy-in, should be recognised.
