Southgates Masterplan Development Brief

The Southgates masterplan, adopted by BCKLWN in late 2022, was developed through partnership working between the borough council officers and members, NCC; HE; the Town Deal, local stakeholder organisations, and the appointed consultant team. The interventions proposed by the Masterplan cut across multiple disciplines and jurisdictions, and partnership working was key to agreeing the future form of development unlocking maximum benefit for all. Through a major configuration of the existing highways layout, the Masterplan will reinstate the Grade I listed South Gate monument as the centrepiece of the area, and will promote socio-economic wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and growth.
