Executive summary from entrant:
The Southsea Coastal Scheme is the largest local authority-led costal defence scheme in the UK. It seeks to protect key infrastructure, >10,000 homes and >700 businesses, 74 listed structures and 3 Scheduled Monuments. Through collaborative working, innovative design and bespoke materials, the scheme not only protects but achieves significant improvements to heritage assets, and in particular the two nationally important Scheduled Monuments situated within Sub-Frontages 1 and 4. The design has seen significant improvements in terms of their historic fabric condition, their settings and their legibility, creating distinctive destinations in their own right rather than places to pass by.
