Partnership for Protecting and Enhancing Argyll’s Rainforest
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Transmission
SSEN Transmission and ACT, supported by Argyll and Bute Council and NatureScot, are working in partnership to protect and enhance Argyll’s rainforest, a unique habitat of ancient and native woodland near Lochgilphead.
The partnership started planting 30 hectares of woodland in December 2022, supporting SSEN Transmission’s commitments to biodiversity net gain and compensatory planting, while delivering on ACT’s woodland planting and charitable objectives. A further area of approximately 10 ha is currently being designed. Our partnership is an exemplar for future partnerships for woodland planting, demonstrating how combined efforts contribute to better outcomes for the natural environment and local communities.
