Not only was the planning application approved at committee but public opinion was overwhelmingly positive, with 213 people formally declaring their support and just 18 objections. On a contentious site where so many applicants had been unsuccessful, during a decade of attempts to deliver a viable scheme and transform this neglected, wasted brownfield site for the benefit of the town, Property House and St Edward’s pioneering approach to consultation has changed the course of Guildford and set the blueprint for meaningful consultation.
