The Green Quarter is transforming a former gasworks into a nature rich haven, with high-quality homes sitting alongside new habitats, bringing wildlife back to this former industrial site. Nature has been at the heart of the design process – from green roofs to mammal tunnels – dramatically improving the biodiversity of the development. Berkeley is not only enhancing the natural world but using green features to improve the lives of the community, including by reducing flooding risk. The Green Quarter goes far beyond national requirements – it is at one with nature, where animals, plants and people can live in harmony.
