Richmond and Wandsworth’s planning team have been working to improve the way we communicate the importance of planning and design for our communities. The ‘What is planning?’ booklets, adapted for both boroughs, were illustrated by Maddison Graphic to break down jargon to provide a visually interesting and easy to understand introduction. They cover the history of planning; key design principles such as density; and borough specific priorities like biodiversity and heritage. The illustrations also connect to our local plan and planning workshop series for young people. Booklets are available online and printed copies have been shared widely with community audiences.
